For London

I had bought some of this adorable bird material
I made a skirt for London
now - what I do with the scraps?
Then the other day while at Charlotte's (our local fabric quilt shop)
I saw this flannel - had to have some
bought only a yard - had no idea what to do with it
Below is what happens when you have scraps
I gathered up some other prints and bought a little more
Wha La!  another light weight blanket for London
This is the Yellow Brick Road quilt pattern
fitting for being in Kansas
super soft flannel for the back
Conversation when it was finished
Jenn:  Russ, what do you think?
Russ: It's nice honey, but does London really need another blanket?
Jenn: London, do you need another blanket?
London:  YES! - I like it

Yester Years

I came across these pictures on my computer
dad has been scanning his slides onto disks and I swiped some that he had done
so I thought I would share a few
My family in 1976?
Jeff and I in the famous "dirt pile"
my dad would get a load of dirt and dump in the back yard
we and all the neighbor kids played in it for hours and hours
eventually we had property lines, fields, and lakes
my love of cats started young
I'm probably 3 in this picture
Jeff and I (1972)
my cat - "Sandy" and his was  "cat""
Jerry and I  (1972)
this is my neighbor, Eric
we literally grew up together - at each other's house all the time
two months apart in age
his father and mine are childhood friends

More to come another day

Quick Get Away

We've been gone the last couple days
Russ had some work to do at the Tulsa and Springdale stores
London and I went with him, we don't get this opportunity very often

We started off staying the night with Jay, Leslie & Briana in Tulsa
They will be moving in August to Midland, TX
We are very sad about this - we have enjoyed being able to pop in to see them in Tulsa on our way to many different destinations.  Russ also loved staying at the Vashler Hotel while he was in Tulsa doing business. They are doing well and can you believe on August 4th it will be 6 months since the kidney transplant!

Then off to the Springdale, AR store
I enjoy going here because Eureka Springs is only a 40 minute drive
This area is beautiful - the mountains and lakes etc - an easy get away area from KS

London LOVED swimming
CrAzY girl going underwater, jumping off the side, trying to swim out to us
This is only picture I got - I guess I was having too much with her
We went over to Rogers and went to Mimi's Cafe it's a nice little place to grab a bite to eat. Then we shopped at the Pinnacle Hills Promenade - we accidentally found this outdoor shopping center a couple years ago.  When in Springdale, we always have to make a trip there.   Unfortunately I didn't have too much time to shop.  They have a great toy/gift store called  Melody's Choices.  I already found London's birthday present.

My crazy daughter, saw the fountain and jumped up on the side and plopped her feet right into the water, flip flops and all. Just a few pictures of our time watching the fountains.
Guess who didn't want their picture taken?
Is it really that painful to smile at mommy?
Always a fun place to shop
This is Eureka Springs, Arkansas
Neat little place to visit
great shopping, food and other sites
VERY difficult to shop when you have a two year old
who for some reason was VERY grabby that day
thanks goodness for April - the monkey in the park
we always have lunch at this hotel - it is fun to sit outside and enjoy the view across the town
Russ found something for London to do
they had different animals you could stuff
(like Build a Bear)
She wasn't too sure about the stuffing part
Elliot - her new BEST friend
You might recognize him from the movie "Open Season"
He went EVERYwhere with her after that
Christ of the Ozarks
We have stopped here several times
It is quite impressive
London - kept staying "I'm going to see Jesus"
But when we got there she seemed to confused
I think she thought she was going to see a live person
Russ wanted his picture with London
She did not want to take part in this tradition
In trying to get her looking at the camera
I cut Jesus' head off
She kept looking to the back and Russ quickly flipped her around
When it was time to leave - she began crying
I asked what was wrong
She said she didn't get to say goodbye to Jesus
So I had her wave goodbye to him
then she continued to cry as we left
This time she said she wanted to take Jesus home with her
