My Quilt

Remember that stack of fat quarters - of Soul Blossoms by Amy Butler?

Here is just a preview of MY quilt

It's been fun seeing this come together

I have 18 blocks done and 30 more to go

I just love all the color

each one is so different

scrappy/bright/fun

It makes me smile just looking at them

Goats

London loves these little goats at the zoo

the other day we took advantage of the warm weather

I think we spent $2.00 in quarters feeding these little guys

Olivia

Blogging seems to be a chore

when I can be sewing for this one

London LOVES Olivia

I have been working on an Olivia blanket for London

I started it before Christmas and got it done last week

I decided not to have it quilted but to quilt it myself

UGH!!  I now remember why I dislike "stitching in the ditch" so much

I broke several needles one afternoon, cussed at my sewing machine,

and had a melt down (emotions from being pregnant is what I blame it on)

I ditched the blanket and sew her a summer dress out of the leftover scraps

so much easier than the quilt and quick results - 2 hr dress

I thought it turned out really cute

Here is the blanket

It turned out adorable - fun and bright with the red in it

London would constantly ask me when I would be done with it

Half Way

It is hard to believe I am in my 20th week

but that is what happens when you don't realize your pregnant until week 9

Wow - we're at the half way point

The only pictures of have of being pregnant with London

are at baby showers and the waterfall

that's all

This time will be different

The ladies at work were talking about my "baby bump"

and how much it has "popped out" this last week

I have to agree with them

The pictures don't quite capture it

I have enjoyed London so much - the excitement in her eyes, her voice

She enjoys talking to the baby, asks what the baby is doing,

feels my tummy, and wants to buy things for the baby

According to London

the baby's name will be Francine

Yum . . . .

Just ate THREE cherry turnovers tonight

I must be pregnant or something

Guess . . . .

What we're having?

Why blog when I can sew

This is part of the reason I hadn't blogged for two weeks

My evenings are precious, I have to pick and choose what I can do

Working 7 hrs a day, then trying to cram everything else into an evening doesn't work

laundry, grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, playing with London, blogging, sewing, etc

What do I do when everything needs attention

Lately sewing has been winning out - I will post some pictures of some completed projects

the fabric below is 33 fat quarters (one of each print) from Amy Butler's newest collection

What a great name

I had been wanting to make a quilt for myself

I have switched my mind many many times of what fabric I wanted to use

Then I saw this line and it was time to find an awesome pattern

I can't wait to get it done.  I have most my pieces cut out

I used 24 of the 33 fat quarters

What is great about the pattern I have picked - it is a quilt as you go

It will have a very bright, fun, kaleidoscope look to it

I will show updates as I go

Really. . .

. . . . just love the things an older brother teaches his sister - ha!

Beautiful

Several of the ladies I work with like to sew, quilt, scrapbook, make cards, jewelry etc

We often bring different items we are working on to share

and to get the praise that our husbands lack in giving us.

Kathy, who is my "Kansas Mom" brought London and I a HUGH surprise.

This started last summer - to make a long story short

 her daughter in law, Lisa had suggested making this quilt for London

I have been giving Lisa clothes for her daughter, Mackenna over the last year or so

What a Thank You to receive!

 I didn't expect anything in return, I was just glad that someone else could use the clothing

I had forgotten all about the blanket because I knew it would be winter before she could work on it

I was very surprised when I saw the quilt and so excited

I decided there was way too much detail and embellishments on it to actually use

we hung it on London's wall and it adds such a pop of color in her room

London LOVED it

she was counting the dresses, looking at the aprons, talking about which ones she liked

She was so excited by it, that when Keyton came the next weekend,

she took him in her room just to show it to him.

I love love love it

Thank you so very much for the beautiful gift

We will greatly appreciate it

I just did not expect this in return!
