Road Trip

We met Jay, Leslie & Brianna in Amarillo, TX this past weekend
We were celebrating the 1 year anniversary of the kidney transplant
Why Amarillo?  It was a half-way point

You ask what is there to do in Amarillo?
After eating my Texas shaped waffle (only in TX would they have these)
We headed out to Cadillac Ranch

Cadillac Ranch is one of the more recognizable and bizarre roadside attractions in the country. 10 vintage Cadillacs are buried up to their backseat in a wheatfield (with cows) rising out of the earth at the same angle as Cheops Pyramid in Egypt.

We had to walk in the snow, mud, and cow manure about 1/4 mile.  It was definately different, not sure if I would go back again, but at least we would remember this tourist site.  Brianna just couldn't understand why anyone would ever do anything like this.  Yes, it was very hokey, redneck, bizarre thing.  If we remember one this from this weekend - it will probably be the walk about to the Cadillacs.

After the excitement of Cadillac Ranch
We headed to Discovery Center - hands on for kids
This was a really cool place - it was set up very well
We all had fun trying different things
Russ laying on a bed of nails
This bubble station was really cool
they even had it where you could enclose yourself  in a bubble
There was so much that London could do and that Brianna also had fun with
More better than Exploration Place in Wichita
More to do and kid friendly for all ages
When in Amarillo you have to go to "The Big Texan"
Home of the Free 72 oz Steak
that is if you can eat it and all the trimmings in 60 minutes
None of us tried it
the food was great - Hugh portions
London's meal came in a cowboy hat and she got to keep it
in the photo below look how ginormous her hamburger is

They had slot machines, a shooting gallery, crazy pictures, and this giant rocking chair
Being in this place reminded me of Wall Drug Store in the Dakotas

Afterwards we decided to relax at the hotel
The girls and Russ had a good time swimming
It was a great day
Interesting sights
Good food
and a great time with family
It is hard to believe that it has been a year already
We are so thankful all that we have been given this year
It is really great to see these two guys looking so great

I am glad we were able to get together for a weekend
to celebrate something so wonderful
"LIFE"

Pancakes

Russ was gone the last week of January
I tried to do something special with London each day
My daughter loves pancakes - one evening I decided to have pancakes for supper
London was so excited about this and was very surprised at the idea of having pancakes for supper??
We had all kinds of goodies
London didn't want any toppings on her pancakes - just beside them
She said she LOVED this - it was fun having pancakes for supper
This was my first stack
chocolate syrup
strawberries
whip cream
chocolate chips
mmmmm - -  very yummy
Isn't this a great mixing bowl?
Found it in Ohio at Christmas

Snow Again

I was surprised when I woke up this morning and saw "snow"
and why was it so cold upstairs?
Our heater wasn't working - just blowing cold air - NICE
It has been snowing all day
They say it will continue through the night
This is the measurement in our front yard
Right before Fisher Heating came - I quickly cleared a path  up the front walk
My future house across the street
Anyone want to buy this cute house??
We just don't get this kind of snow very often in Kansas
usually it starts out with ice - snow - ice
not just snow

I am thankful . . . . .
. . . . that it is only snow and not ice like they had predicted
. . . . the beauty of the snow (looks like a snow globe outside)
. . . . that Fisher Heating fixed our upstairs heater (just a bad igniter)
. . . . Russ is picking up London from daycare
. . . . most of all "Packers" won the Superbowl!
