Chocolate Cake

This post is dedicated to my "Heatwole" cousins - Rick and Susie

This morning I had this for breakfast
Chocolate Cake
The last piece of my birthday cake

I just had to laugh because it reminded me of my cousins in DC

Sometimes when we would visit them 

we would sit down in their basement listening to Bill Cosby records

they were so funny - we would just laugh at his stories

"Chocolate Cake for Breakfast" is one that stands out in my mind

A toast to great memories with my cousins

I hope you get a laugh out of this story
(it's a little long but worth it)

Birthday

today is my birthday

43 years (ouch)

but isn't 40 the new 30?

russ came home with this lovely cake

and a great present from the girls and him

a charm bracelet

what I love most

is that russ took time to choose each charm

each one has a special meaning

how thoughtful

and there is room to add more

looking forward to a great party tonight

(I normally don't have wine bottles in my bedroom
our electric went out last night and this one is filled with lamp oil)

Not so pretty

My flowers looked really good at the beginning of the summer

I worked hard at keeping them watered when it starting reaching 100+

They went from this . . . . 

 . . .  to this in just a few short days! literally!

in just 3 days

I remembered to ask Russ on Saturday (after Kennedy was born)

Uh . .  has anyone watered the flowers?

He said no, but he would that evening

He really tried to save them but they were already gone

We've had over 30 days of 100+  with no rain

until this last week

Well - at least I have a few Blackeyed Susan's blooming but even they are struggling

Glad I took it easy on the plants this year

At least all my neighbor's flowers look like mine

My Girls

People have asked if London and Kennedy look alike

I did this collage in Picasa but for some reason it didn't transfer the text

The girls do look a lot alike

Kennedy has darker hair and her face isn't as round as London's

Butterfly Alien

This butterfly alien showed up at our house on Friday night

She was a little difficult to catch and talk with

but I managed to snap a few pictures of her

too cute and funny

love the hat they made at daycare

they were learning about outer space

Baby K

Miss Kennedy is growing like a weed!

She is at 4 lbs 3 oz and 18 inches

 I don't want her to loose this pretty dark hair with blonde highlights

Imagine - my baby has highlights at 2 weeks old

 No matter how well I wrap her up

these arms manage their way out

She has been a joy

Very happy and content

Just wishing for more sleep at night
