Craft Project

London has been wanting to do more craft projects
maybe it is because I have been doing a lot of sewing projects
and she feels the need to be creative also

London is constantly swiping my fabric scraps
and she LOVES to glue
my neighbor, Megan did this project at one of her crafts weekends
and I thought it was simple and perfect for London
take canvas boards (we even used one that we had messed up with paint)
fabric scraps and Mod Podge (or you can use hot glue)
then you pick out your fabric and start gluing it to the canvas
we just kept gluing away
London's we trimmed out the sides with ribbons
and on Kennedy's I wrapped the sides with the fabric
I thought they were pretty just like this
London wanted to put their names on them and hang them on the bedroom door
Amy D (another neighbor) cut out the letters for us
London picked "let it shine" for the large sign
it was a fun, quick project that she really enjoyed and didn't get bored with
and a great way to use of some fabric strips
something bright and cheerful in our hallway

Magic Marker = Medicine

The other week I left Russ with the girls
Spending some time with some friends at "Fixin' CHICKS"
We get together every so often and make several meals to freeze
It is great to have 6-8 meals in the freezer ready to go

I get home and London had just gone to bed
When I check on her - she tells me her finger hurts
(mind you her room is fairly dark with some snowflakes lights on)
All I see is a purple looking finger - panic sets in - what happened
her finger is going to fall off
we need to go to the ER and check out what type of bite this might be
I get her into the bathroom and realize  - magic marker!!
When I questioned her more - she said she put medicine on it
the medicine was magic marker
REALLY! what was she THINKING?
after I calm down and realize her finger is not going to fall off
we wash most of it off and she is once again banned from markers

Get the Beat

We took London to her first concert
Fresh Beat Band
they are on Nickelodeon
one of her FAVORITE shows to watch
they just came out with a CD - she knows all the songs

They advertised that they were going to be touring
I don't know how many times she asked if we could check
and see if they were coming to Kansas
Russ and I surprised her with tickets for Valentine's Day
well, we actually couldn't wait and told her early

We made a road trip to Salina
we had a great time with her
she soaked it all in
ended up having fantastic seats (5th row)
danced, sang, and laughed with them
full of energy and non stop action
it was done very well and not corny like some other kid shows
these guys are very talented - one graduated from Yale, University of Miami with Opera degree
they do play the instruments, sing on Broadway when they aren't filming FBB
they sound just as good in concert as they do on TV

at one point I looked at Russ and told him it was sad that I knew the words
being silly before the concert
Twist
Shout - graduated from Yale in Theatre Studies
Kiki - she has the BEST voice - so strong - she is the opera singer - graduated from college at age 19
Marina
Thanks for a fun concert
Thanks for bringing some joy to my daughter
Thanks for inspiring my daughter to sing

100 Years

Happy 100th Birthday Oreo Cookie!
Crazy
one of our favorite cookie is celebrating 100 years
we (London and I) decided to celebrate
I bought a package of double stuff
by the time Russ came home for supper
we had eaten HALF the bag - just London and I
eat them as a sandwich
twist them apart
eat one half with the cream and then the plain half
eat only the cream (London's way)
eat the cream and then the cookie
or eat the cookie only (no one does that)
dunk them in ice cold milk - my favorite
How do you eat your Oreo cookie?
Celebrate with us - go buy a bag or two

Transition Time

Kennedy has been sleeping in this adorable cradle
that I bought at the Hesston Barn Sale ($25 - what a steal!)
Now that she is 7 months old
we decided to put up the baby crib
London is very excited that they will be sharing a room

I will be using the same bedding that I had with London
but I needed a crib skirt
then I remembered this old chenille comforter I had bought at the thrift store
a little measuring and ripping - no sewing was required
and PRESTO
a crib skirt
cute one at that
Don't you love the bright colors in this quilt?
Kathy and coworker (Kansas mom) made it for Kennedy
I just love it and she even made a smaller version for London with left overs
side note: Kathy is also the one who made the doll dress quilt behind the crib
now - hopefully it will be a smooth transition to the crib
