Let it Sleet, Let it shoot Ice Balls, Let it Snow

When I woke up this morning I could still hear the wind blowing and something hard hitting the windows. Good day to stay in your pj's all day and not have to get ready since I probably won't be going anywhere. Russ got home at about 11:00 PM last night from Springdale, Arkansas. He said the roads weren't bad until they hit the Kansas line.

So . . . . it finally started snowing this morning and while the weather was doing this. . .

I was doing this . . . trying to finish up London's Easter dress. It is almost done, just need to get some ribbon for a sash.

Russ was doing this . . . . he had a very long week remodeling one of their stores.

. . . . and London was busy doing this. She had emptied everything out of Russ' suitcase and climbed inside and played for at least 30 minutes. She also chased the cats and watched a little of 101 Dalmatians. She is slowly starting to discover TV. She will watch something if it has animals or music. She loves "Dancing with the Stars".

It finally stopped snowing and I told London after her nap we would got outside and play. Well, the nap NEVER happened. She was up in her bed for 1 hr and NEVER went to sleep. So I bundled her up and we went outside. Russ had cleaned off the sidewalks, the sun was starting to come out. We only got about 4 inches of snow after it was all done.

Inside of going somewhere to sled, we decided to just take London around the block. She enjoyed the ride after having problems walking in it.

Anticipation

We are supposed to be receiving today anywhere from 5 – 16 inches of SNOW! Right now it is snowing in Wichita and in Hesston – Newton is right in the middle – I don't see any white flurries yet. Was it one week ago that we were having a picnic in 80 degree weather ? Our spring weather is so bizarre ! Tulips, daffodils, and the trees are all blooming. I did go out and protect all my baby plants that are coming up snow will be fine – but not if it freezes. Positive note: IF (our weather men are known to be wrong) we get as much snow as they say - we will go sledding tomorrow – it will be London's first time and drink hot chocolate – since the snow will probably be gone by Monday.

A Windy Walk

This afternoon we decided to take a hike. It was a blustery day (as pooh bear would say) but amongst the trees it wasn't too bad.

London's backpack (thanks Craig and Megan), last week she didn't enjoy it too much, but today she had fun.

Some people think Kansas doesn't have trees, but as you can see in these pictures we do have few. This is a nice little hiking trail back behind Bethel College in N. Newton.

Just taking a break on some benches and to also have a Kodak moment with the camera.

It was good to get outside and get some fresh air, after having to watch basketball all day! You may have noticed that Keyton is not in any of the pictures - he was at home sleeping.

Saturday Afternoon

A little family Bocce ball and texting by the teens in the family. London kept picking up our balls and throwing them elsewhere.

Football

Russ, Kassade and Keyton took a walk to Sonic.

Closet Monster BEWARE

This is warning what a Closet Monster can do. Believe me if you have one - I would suggest that you train it to clean up the mess it can leave behind or find a way to get rid of it. I am trying to train ours because we would like to keep ours.

Happy Birthday Mom

I would tell you how old she is but you wouldn't believe me anyway, because she looks beautiful for her age.

I just want to thank her for being such a great mother especially in these recent years. I wish that we lived closer so we could do more together as adults. I cherish the times that we do get to spend together.

Just a few of the things she has done for me over the last couple years. When I unexpectedly had London early, she flew out and spent a week with us even though she was leaving to go on a 10 day cruise a couple days after she go back from KS. My house - well - it was literally a disaster. Before I came home she cleaned my house, did laundry, grocery shopped, made meals and probably also cleaned out the cat litter box. It was so wonderful to come home and not have to do anything for several days.

She came out at Thanksgiving and Christmas that same year. She took over and made gingerbread houses with the kids and cleaned up so I could take a much needed nap before we went to Crown Up Town (dinner theater) in the middle of a snow storm.

She has enjoyed playing grandmother my three stepchildren and now to London. She has also listen very well about my joys and sorrows of being a stepmother. Helped me to see through things and reminded me that they are children and be more considerate of their situation.

How can I forget - wrapping my Christmas presents - I can say that every year that she has been out to visit for Christmas she has wrapped presents for me. Is that the best or what.

Thanks for being a wonderful support during this last year - which we have experienced so many ups and downs in life.

These are just a few of the many wonderful things that she has done over the last couple years. Don't forget to wish her a happy birthday.

We wish that we could be there with you! Thanks for being such a great mother and hope that dad has planned a special day for you.

Here are just a few pictures since 10/07 when I got my digital camera.

In this picture you can see mom in the background addressing my birth announcements

Happy St Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone. We had an absolutely beautiful day. It was up to 80 degrees. This is London's St. Patrick's shirt I made. I had bought her a green shirt and decided on Sunday that it was too boring. After some thinking, scraps and ball fringe - I came up with this adorable shirt. It was defiantly a hit at daycare.

While waiting for Russ to come home we played outside with the cats, practiced going up and down the porch stairs and talked with some neighbors.

These are some stacking cups that my cousin, Jill gave us. She said that they were one of Ryan's favorite toys and they are becoming one of London's favorites also.

Picnic Time Again . . .

When Russ got home today we decided to go have a picnic at the park. It was just too beautiful to stay inside. Grabbed a Subway sandwich and chips and off we went.

Giving her daddy a little love

Russ was trying to teach her how to kick the ball. She really never did get the concept, but sure was doing a lot of giggling while trying. Russ would take her and swing her forward so she would kick the ball.

Since I am usually the one taking the pictures - I don't have a lot of me with London. So, it was time to call on Russ to be the photographer.

And as the sun was slowly setting it was time to pack up a leave. London wants to help with everything these days.

mmmmmmm a Dairy Queen Parfait to end the perfect day
